homecoming banquet

About a month ago we had the Bryan College homecoming banquet. It was pretty low-key and "awkward free" but a fun time to get dressed up and have a good meal.
Me shooting my friend Joanna, whom I took to the banquet.
Me, Drew, Joanna, and Sharalyn as the Ninja Turtles (the theme of the banquet was "TV dinner").
And the reason that we celebrate... Posted by Picasa

Day of Prayer

Today is the Day of Prayer for Bryan College. Once a semester we take a day off from classes to fast and pray. I went to the Pocket Wilderness with Caleb Beasley.
We stopped to pray by a stream and felt like the Lord released a significant word during our time. Haggai 1:4-- "Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house lies desolate?" While we don't exactly live in paneled houses, we feel that the Lord wants us to contend for his presence to tabernacle here at Bryan College in a greater capacity. 1:7-8-- "thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Consider your ways! Go up to the mountains, bring wood and rebuild the temple, that I may be pleased with it and be glorified,' says the LORD." vs 14 "So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spririt of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God." We desire to be like Zerubbabel, for our hearts to be stirred by God and to consider our ways through the wisdom of God.
I will try to update this blog more frequently, so go ahead and check it often! Posted by Picasa

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

Today is the International Day of Prayer for the Peace in Jerusalem. And it could not be more needed. We are in the middle of the month of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and feasting. Muslim prayer calls blare from loudspeakers six times a day. The Israeli police have ordered some Jewish families not to come out of their houses during certain times of the day because it would disturb the peace.
Jewish hearts long for peace, but all their eyes see is distruction. Some are bitter against God. Others try to do something about it, like the 20-year-old prayer leader who was arrested for blowing his shofar by the Wailing Wall. We must cry out for peace to the one true God who never sleeps and never slumbers as he watches over His beloved Israel (Ps 121). Posted by Picasa
